Planned Giving

Gift of Stock

Donating stock is one of the smartest ways to give — and it benefits you while supporting MSF:

  • You can save on taxes: When you donate your appreciated assets, you avoid paying the capital gains tax. If you itemize deductions, you can also take a charitable deduction for the entire donation amount.

  • If you wish to donate stock please send us an email and we will assist you.  It is a very easy process!

“I felt like I always questioned myself…but the fact that they singled me out and awarded me the scholarship made
me feel so deserving and amazing!

“I remember sitting in the auditorium crying. I didn’t know if I was going to college. Then they called my name for the award and it was like ‘I can do this -- I’m going to college’ and a lot of the financial weight was lifted.”

Gift Through Your Will or Living Trust

To include MSF in your will or living trust, please use our full legal name, The Montclair Scholarship Fund, Inc.

Your attorney may find the following language helpful:

"I hereby give, devise and bequeath  ______ (a dollar amount, or all or a percentage of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to The Montclair Scholarship Fund, Inc., now or formerly in the Township of Montclair, 100 Chestnut Street in the state of New Jersey, for its general purposes."

Gift of Retirement Funds, Life Insurance, or Bank Accounts

Naming The Montclair Scholarship Fund, Inc. as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy, bank or brokerage account is a generous way to make a legacy gift "outside" a will.

These gifts are easy to implement and giving retirement funds is a tax-wise strategy for many donors. Contact your plan or policy administrator for a change of beneficiary form for retirement and life insurance accounts. For bank or brokerage accounts, contact your account manager for the appropriate form to file.

“If it weren’t for the Montclair Scholarship Fund, I’d be in big trouble. MSF has taught me so much about giving and investing in everyone’s future.”
